Ajax host Atalanta in Conference League, an opponent in difficulty
According to Voetbal International, Ajax host Atalanta on Thursday in the Conference League, an opponent going through a difficult period, especially away from home.
Ajax are preparing to host Atalanta Bergamo on Thursday 22 October at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in the Conference League, reports Voetbalnieuws. After the defeat on the first matchday at Hajduk Split, European pressure is already high on the club, according to Voetbal International.
The Italian opponents arrive, however, with difficulties. According to Voetbal International, Atalanta are experiencing defensive problems and a series of poor away results this season. Maurizio Sarri's side's start to the season would even be more inconsistent than Ajax's, according to an analysis from the same outlet.
The Italian coach has also criticised the calendar imposed by FIFA and UEFA, which he deems "absurd", reports Voetbal International. Previous meetings between the two clubs in the Champions League have hardly smiled on Ajax, stresses Voetbalnieuws.
