According to Globo and Gazeta Esportiva, Flamengo were knocked out by Estudiantes on penalties in the Libertadores semi-final. Arrascaeta and Bruno Henrique reacted.
Flamengo have been eliminated from the Copa Libertadores. On Wednesday, the Brazilian club were beaten on penalties by Estudiantes, following a goalless second leg at the Maracanã, reports Terra. The aggregate score was also 0-0, and this semi-final elimination sparked much mockery online, according to Globo.
Arrascaeta, the Uruguayan midfielder, expressed his regret after this defeat. He called on his team to behave better, stating that the group "paid a very high price" for not playing at their best, as reported by Globo and Gazeta Esportiva. He also called for a reaction in the Brazilian Championship. Bruno Henrique, the club's forward, lamented the missed penalties, acknowledging a poor performance in the shootout, according to Gazeta Esportiva. This elimination would also have financial consequences for the club, Terra suggests.
