Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo claim first Europa League wins

Real Sociedad and Celta de Vigo both recorded their first wins in the Europa League league phase on Thursday, as reported by Europa Press. The Basque side delivered a dominant display away to Lillestrom, winning 0-6, while Celta overturned a deficit at Celtic Park to win 1-2.

Real Sociedad's emphatic away win

Real Sociedad, who needed a first victory in this edition of the competition, took control of the match from the start. According to OKDIARIO, the Spanish club were considered favourites despite playing away in a small stadium, which made the tie potentially tricky. The final scoreline, however, left no room for doubt, with the visitors scoring six goals without reply.

The match was widely covered by Spanish media, with ABC, AS, and Mundo Deportivo all providing live coverage of the encounter.

Celta Vigo's comeback at Celtic Park

Celta Vigo secured their first win of the campaign by coming from behind to defeat Celtic 1-2 in Glasgow. The result was confirmed by Europa Press, which noted that the Galician side turned the match around after falling behind.

Several outlets, including 20minutos and Mundo Deportivo, followed the match live, highlighting the significance of the result for Celta's European campaign.

Europa League standings after matchday three

Following the third round of fixtures, the Europa League standings remain wide open, according to OKDIARIO. The draws involving Juventus and Sunderland have left the top positions uncertain, with both clubs at risk of dropping several places if any of their pursuers secure a win in their third match. Bayer Leverkusen, meanwhile, continue to feature prominently in the standings.
