According to Estadio Deportivo, wins for Real Madrid and Real Betis could see Spain take second place in the race for the two extra Champions League spots awarded by UEFA. The Andalusian daily reports that the country has already benefited from this in each of the last two seasons.

The same paper adds that Spain could not repeat its clean sweep from matchday two, with only Atlético Madrid winning on Tuesday. However, the previous day's results would suggest a favourite for this reward, as ElDesmarque reports. The Spanish clubs involved in this battle are Real Sociedad, Sevilla, Alavés, Celta Vigo, Deportivo and Osasuna.
