U15 World Cup: 189 nations and nearly 1,000 matches
The U15 World Cup will be held in Azerbaijan, according to Onze Mondial. The competition, created by FIFA, will feature 189 nations.
The under-15 world competition kicks off this weekend in Azerbaijan, as reported by Onze Mondial. This new event, devised by FIFA, concerns players born in 2011 and 2012. It will bring together 189 countries, the media outlet specifies.
The format differs from the usual international tournament habits: nearly 1,000 matches are scheduled, Onze Mondial says. Der Spiegel echoes this figure and notes that all national teams worldwide are invited, wondering what this model could mean for the future.
